We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Christine, a dedicated station adopter for Chirk railway station.
In paying tribute to Christine, the Friends of Chirk railway station, Angela, Paul, Martyn, Gaynor and Doreen, said:
“Christine, a focused lady who had a huge pride in her station. You can only admire her determination to have the best station in the UK! Which she achieved!
All the volunteers enjoyed her generosity, especially at refreshment time on the platform with her basket of treats!
Christine always showed an interest in our families and wellbeing. All station volunteers are truly shocked at the loss of our friend and mentor.
We will carry on the good work she started with her sister Margaret, keeping the pride in Chirk Station for as long as possible!”
Josie Rayworth, Community Rail Officer for the 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership added:
“Christine was a determined and kind lady, deeply committed to her community, always making a real difference in everything she did. It was a pleasure to work with her, and I will never forget her kindness, support, and enthusiasm. She will be dearly missed, and her passing is a great loss for all who knew her.”
