The 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership is delighted that its’ Rail Officer Josie Rayworth has recently become a Tourism Ambassador for the County of Wrexham and has been presented with her Bronze Tourism Ambassador Certificate.
Josie is looking forward to utilising her new knowledge in her role.
One of the main purposes of the 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership is to encourage greater use of sustainable travel and to publicise the Chester – Wrexham – Shrewsbury – Crewe rail line, promoting this gateway to show what North Wales and the border areas have to offer.
Wrexham County Borough is fast becoming one of Wales’s most popular tourism destinations, and 2022, saw a 60% increase in tourism spend over the last decade and there are now over 1,700 full-time employees within hospitality businesses locally.
The new Tourism Ambassador scheme has just been launched providing an online training opportunity for interested organisations and individuals to enhance their knowledge of the tourism offer for the whole of Wrexham County Borough – from Rossett in the north to Llanarmon DC in the south.
Josie said, “I’m delighted to become a Wrexham Tourism Ambassador. As someone who is Wrexham born and bred, I know what a special place it is, with its ancient history from Brymbo Man to its’ industrial heritage of Minera Lead Mines, to the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Ceiriog Valley.”
“Being a Tourism ambassador for Wrexham is a privilege and I look forward to promoting these special places and experiences as part of my role.”
“We are currently developing a sustainable tourism project where this knowledge will be used to promote what Wrexham has to offer across borders. I look forward to completing the silver and gold modules of the Ambassador Wales Courses later this year”.
